Profile
A biologist and ecologist specializing in the functioning of marine food webs, matter fluxes, and processes linking terrestrial and marine ecosystems. She is a researcher at the Faculty of Biology, University of Gdańsk. She investigates the role of colonial seabirds in shaping the productivity and biodiversity of coastal zones, as well as the impact of nutrient inputs on the structure and functioning of plankton and benthic communities. Her research employs chemical analysis, stable nitrogen and carbon isotopes, and advanced statistical models, including ordination analyses. She has extensive experience in field research and scientific diving, conducting expeditions in challenging and remote marine environments, including collaborations with the Institute of Oceanology, Polish Academy of Sciences (IO PAN). She has led projects funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) and university grants, carrying out numerous in situ studies in coastal ecosystems. She teaches a variety of courses, including her original course Marine Food Webs.
Research area: matter and energy fluxes between terrestrial and marine ecosystems, ornithogenic nutrient subsidies and their impact on plankton and benthic communities, stable nitrogen and carbon isotopes (δ¹⁵N, δ¹³C) in ecological studies.
