Profile
A geophysicist and hydrodynamicist specializing in experimental studies of processes occurring in aquatic environments. In her research, she draws on interdisciplinary environmental sciences, combining elements of physics, chemistry, and microbiology. She currently focuses on investigating the hydrodynamic aspects of biopolymer presence in natural waters. She heads the Laboratory of Physical Hydrodynamic Models, where she develops, among others, research on two-phase flows under density stratification conditions and non-Newtonian properties of the medium, relating these processes to the transport of microplastics and marine aggregates. She applies visualization methods, particle image velocimetry, computer image analysis, and rheometry. She has also worked on issues related to flow resistance and the transport of sediment and microplastics in open channels under unsteady flow conditions. She has led projects funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) and internal research grants. She is a member of the Senior Editorial Board of the journal Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio) in the Geoscience section and has also co-edited monographs in the GeoPlanet: Earth and Planetary Sciences series.
