ReefSurvive

Origin

The ReefSurviveNetwork (RSN) was established under the auspices of GeoPlanet – Earth and Planetary Research Centre in December 2025.

RSN was created to bring together the research potential of various institutions in pursuit of its mission.

The network currently consists of 19 researchers from 14 Polish research institutions, representing expertise ranging from Earth observation from near space to coral gamete research, as well as the Art Of Dive Diving Association.

The network is open to new members who are willing to engage in collaborative activities.

The network originated from the First Polish Coral Reef Workshop, held on 6 June 2025 at the Institute of Geophysics PAS.

The activities of RSN are coordinated by the seven-member ReefSurvive Team, established under the auspices of GeoPlanet on 9 December 2025.

Mission

The mission of the ReefSurviveNetwork is to conduct interdisciplinary research on the factors affecting coral reef ecosystems. This research, together with the continuous monitoring of coral reef health, falls within the domain of reefology, whose findings provide the basis for a holistic assessment and forecasting of the future of coral reefs.

RSN promotes educational, organizational, social, and policy initiatives aimed at supporting the survival of coral reefs. The network also supports civic initiatives at various levels of organization that contribute to coral reef research, such as Citizen Science 4Reefs.
