Profile
A geophysicist and geologist specializing in paleomagnetism, studying the history of the geosystem, particularly continental drift and paleoclimate, as well as, at the beginning of his scientific career, environmental conditions on the slopes of Devonian coral reefs. He has conducted research in the Arctic and Antarctic, Africa, and Europe, and has led scientific and infrastructure projects. He has held executive and expert positions in Poland and abroad and currently serves as Chair of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences. In recent years, he has been an active promoter of research on modern coral reefs and is the initiator, organizer, and coordinator of the first Polish scientific network dedicated to coral reef conservation – ReefSurvive.
Research area: paleomagnetism and its applications in geosystem research, magnetic anisotropy of reef structures, paleoseismicity of regions, identification of magnetically active minerals using paleomagnetic methods, magnetic susceptibility as a proxy for climate change.
