Profile
A geophysicist specializing in applied geophysics and holding a PhD in Earth Sciences. His research focuses on an interdisciplinary approach that integrates geology and geophysics for comprehensive interpretation of seismic data. He applies advanced seismic modelling techniques and successfully implements them in the interpretation of selected geological structures of different ages from sedimentary basins around the world. He collaborates with leading international experts in geological interpretation of reflection seismic data, including Joe Cartwright (University of Oxford). His research also focuses on the application of seismic modelling in sedimentology and seismic stratigraphy of subsurface carbonate reef systems. In his most recent publication (Słonka et al., 2025, Marine and Petroleum Geology), he presents a globally unique, high-precision integration of seismic modelling with surface analogues of Jurassic reef formations.
Research area: seismic data interpretation, full-wavefield seismic modelling, seismic stratigraphy of carbonate reef systems.
